Dental Crowns

Full coverage for teeth that need more than a filling — built to last and matched to your natural smile.

What a Crown Is

A full-coverage restoration — designed to strengthen and protect what you already have.

A crown — sometimes called a cap — is used to entirely cover a damaged tooth. Crowns are placed when a tooth has been significantly weakened: by a large filling, a fracture, severe decay, or after root canal treatment. Rather than patching the surface, a crown encases the entire visible tooth and restores its full shape, strength, and appearance.

Crowns are also used to attach a dental bridge, cover a dental implant, or improve a tooth that's discolored or poorly shaped. Because they wrap completely around the tooth, they dramatically improve its alignment and appearance while protecting it from further damage.

The fit and shade of your crown are matched precisely to the surrounding teeth. When it's done, it looks and functions like any other tooth in your mouth — and you won't have to think about it again.

The Process

What to Expect at Your Crown Appointment

Getting a crown typically takes two appointments. Here's how the process works from start to finish.

1

Evaluation & Preparation

We examine the tooth and confirm a crown is the right approach. The tooth is shaped to make room for the crown, impressions are taken, and a temporary crown is placed to protect the tooth while your permanent one is being made.

2

Crown Fabrication

Your impressions are sent to a dental lab, where your crown is custom-fabricated to match the shape, size, and shade of your natural teeth. This usually takes a couple of weeks.

3

Placement & Cementation

At your second appointment, the temporary crown is removed, your bite is checked with the permanent crown, and it's cemented into place. You leave with a fully restored tooth that looks and feels natural.

What Patients Say

5-Star Google Review
★★★★★
“From the office staff, Penny, that was nice and super helpful! I didn’t have my new husband’s insurance card with me and she was able to find the information and did it with a pleasant attitude! To Dr. Will and his assistant Bailey, who were both great, in prepping my tooth for a new crown. They made the two hour procedure go by effortlessly and quickly! Dr. Will was very knowledgeable and had a great bedside manner! He and Bailey worked well together and kept me informed throughout. Best dentist and best dental assistant I’ve ever had the pleasure of being a patient of! I would highly recommend them to anyone needing a new dentist!!”
